Can Ogura is an Acholi phrase that means the problems have surrounded me.
This work examines the transformation of culture as a result of war. It uses language as a point of exploration. This work, a narrative, is made up of a glossary of Acholi words and their english translations. The majority of the words and idioms that are used in the work only emerged during and after the war to describe the lived experience of this particular war and its aftermath. These words are now significantly and permanently fixed in the culture.
